Radha Ashtami is celebrated as a festival of love, devotion, and surrender. According to religious beliefs, Radha Rani symbolizes unwavering love and sacrifice for Shri Krishna. It is believed that devotion is only complete when Radha's name is chanted before Krishna's. Ujjain-based astrologer Anand Bhardwaj explains that Radha Ashtami is observed on the *Ashtami* (eighth day) of the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada. This is the day Radha Rani is believed to have manifested on Earth. Devotees observe a fast, meditate on Radha and Krishna, and pray for happiness and prosperity. Additionally, bringing certain items into the home on this day is considered auspicious.

According to the Vedic calendar, in 2026, the *Ashtami Tithi* of the Bhadrapada *Shukla Paksha* will begin on Friday, September 18, at 1:02 PM and conclude on Saturday, September 19, at 3:28 PM. Therefore, considering the *Udaya Tithi* (the sunrise date), the festival of Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19.

**Significance of Radha Ashtami**
Observing the fast and performing the worship associated with Radha Ashtami enhances devotion, love, and good fortune in a person's life; the devotee becomes worthy of the supreme love shared by Radha and Krishna. The observer attains lasting good fortune and prosperity, along with stability on the path of devotion and the blessing of Shri Krishna's grace. It is believed that for those who chant the name "Radha-Radha," Lord Krishna comes to them of His own accord. Observing the Radha Ashtami fast fosters love, harmony, and sweetness in married life and brings the blessing of progeny.

**Auspicious Items to Bring Home on Radha Ashtami**
**Peacock Feather:** Bringing a peacock feather home on Radha Ashtami is considered auspicious. It is believed to promote positivity and peace. One can place it near the picture of Radha and Krishna during worship.

**Flute:** Bringing a flute home alongside a peacock feather on Radha Ashtami is also considered auspicious. The flute symbolizes love and sweetness. It is believed that placing a flute near the idols or pictures of Radha and Krishna in the prayer room increases love and positivity within the family. 

Tulsi Plant – According to religious beliefs, bringing a Tulsi plant home on auspicious days is considered positive. Households that do not have a Tulsi plant can bring one home on the day of Radha Ashtami. It is believed that this fosters happiness, peace, and prosperity within the home.

Gulal – Offering *Gulal* (colored powder) to Radha Rani on Radha Ashtami is considered auspicious. Religious belief holds that this invokes Radha Rani's grace and infuses one's life with love, happiness, and joy.

Anklets – Purchasing silver anklets or toe rings, along with a peacock feather, is also considered auspicious on Radha Ashtami. During the worship, touch these items to Radha Rani’s feet and then gift them to a married woman or wear them yourself. It is believed that this enhances good fortune and marital bliss.
