Subbulakshmi's 110th birth anniversary—Kamal Haasan officially announced the film at an event held in Bengaluru.

The biopic of 'MS Amma' is titled *MS - A Legacy on Screen*. Rashmika Mandanna is set to play the role of Subbulakshmi. Superstar Kamal Haasan launched the film. At the event, the veteran actor compared the pressure of portraying the legendary singer to that of playing Michael Jackson.
Kamal Haasan remarked that playing this role entails the same kind of pressure an actor would feel while portraying a global icon like Michael Jackson. Notably, the makers also unveiled the title and the first look of the film, which was officially launched on M.S. Subbulakshmi's 110th birth anniversary.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended an event in Bengaluru marking the 110th birth anniversary of the renowned Carnatic singer M.S. Subbulakshmi. She participated as the chief guest. During the event, she became emotional while listening to a song. Subbulakshmi's great-granddaughters also gave a performance.
Born on September 6, 1916, in Madurai, Subbulakshmi was the first musician to receive the highest civilian honour, the 'Bharat Ratna'. She was conferred this honour in 1998. She also became the first Indian musician to perform at the United Nations General Assembly in 1966. She passed away in Chennai on December 11, 2004, at the age of 88.
