Now, your parcel will be automatically tracked via your Gmail bills; delivery details will appear as soon as you open the app..

Millions of online shoppers often face a hassle when trying to track their order deliveries. They frequently have to switch between apps—checking Amazon one moment and visiting a courier company's website to paste a long tracking number the next. To eliminate this inconvenience once and for all, tech giant Google has introduced a revolutionary change to its digital wallet app. Google Wallet will no longer be just a tool for financial transactions or storing cards; it will also keep a close watch on every parcel heading to your doorstep.

The entire system operates intelligently in the background. As soon as you purchase an item from an e-commerce website or online store, the digital receipt and tracking ID land directly in your Gmail inbox. Google's new feature scans your Gmail and automatically extracts all relevant shipping details. This information is then synced directly to the Google Wallet interface, allowing users to view live updates for everything in one place.

**Status displayed alongside cards; here’s how to activate the feature**

The standout feature of this update is its user interface. When you open the Google Wallet app, the live status of your parcels will appear on the same home screen where your debit cards, credit cards, and digital payment methods are displayed. This allows users to instantly see the progress of their orders and their expected delivery times the moment they open the app. To view full details about a parcel, simply tap on the package entry, and a comprehensive tracking report will open. Once the item is delivered to your home, you can manually dismiss the notification, though the system will also automatically remove it after a few days.

**Privacy and Security**
Google has also clearly outlined its stance on privacy and security. The company states that enabling this package tracking feature in the Wallet app will not tamper with any emails stored in Gmail, nor will it alter their original format. However, to take advantage of this convenient service, users need to make a minor adjustment to their Gmail account settings. Users must go to Gmail settings and enable the "Google Workspace smart features" option. If this setting remains disabled on your account, Google Wallet will be unable to read data from your inbox, and the feature will not function.

From a historical perspective, this concept is not entirely new for Google. The company had previously successfully experimented with package tracking via email through its popular—though now discontinued—'Google Now' service, which later evolved into the 'Google Discover' feed. This time, however, the company has made the feature even more useful by integrating it directly into its payment platform, Google Wallet. That said, there are some initial limitations; the tech giant is currently testing this feature only with select users in the United States (US), with a potential global rollout planned for the future.
