Sunday Morning Workout: Don't feel like getting out of bed on a Sunday? Try these 5 stretches to shake off the lethargy..

Simple Stretching Exercises: Do you feel like crawling back under the blanket after turning off your alarm on a Sunday morning? After a week full of hustle and work, it is natural to want to give your body some rest on your day off. However, instead of lying in bed for hours, doing a few minutes of light stretching after waking up can help energize your body.

Simple stretching is a great option, especially if you wake up feeling stiffness in your back, neck, shoulders, or legs. You don't need a gym or any special equipment for this; you can perform some light, comfortable exercises right at home after getting out of bed.

Avoid putting excessive strain on your body while stretching. If an exercise causes pain, stop immediately. Here are 5 easy stretching exercises to energize a lazy Sunday morning.

Try these 5 easy Sunday morning stretches:

Neck Stretch

Sit upright and slowly tilt your neck to the right and then to the left.
Hold the position for a few seconds on each side.
This can help reduce stiffness around the neck and shoulders.

Shoulder Stretch

Bring one arm across your body and gently pull it towards you using your other hand.
Alternate between both arms. Perform this within a comfortable range of motion.

Cat-Cow Stretch

Get onto your hands and knees on a mat; slowly arch your back upwards (rounding it) and then gently lower it downwards.
This exercise provides gentle movement for the spine.

Standing Side Stretch

Stand tall, raise both arms overhead, and slowly lean your body to one side.
Then, repeat on the other side. Avoid putting too much strain on your waist.

Hamstring Stretch

Place one foot slightly forward and—without locking your knee—gently lean your body forward. Alternate between both legs.

How long should you do it?
You can start with 5–10 minutes of light stretching in the morning.
Hold each stretch for a few seconds within a comfortable range and continue breathing normally.
If you have a pre-existing injury, persistent pain, or any health condition, it is best to consult a specialist before starting the exercises.
