Every year, this festival is observed on the *Ashtami* (eighth day) of the dark fortnight (*Krishna Paksha*) of the *Bhadrapada* month, coinciding with the *Rohini Nakshatra*. On Janmashtami, special worship and service are dedicated to *Laddu Gopal*, the infant form of Lord Krishna. Devotees bathe and adorn *Bal Gopal*, place Him on a swing, and perform rituals at midnight—the time of the Lord's birth. **Begin the Service of Laddu Gopal in the Morning**
On Janmashtami, take a bath in the morning and clean the place of worship. Then, place *Laddu Gopal* on a clean *chowki* (low platform) covered with a cloth. If you have a tradition of regular daily worship, follow that practice. Light a lamp before the deity, meditate on Lord Krishna, and chant mantras. Prepare *Sattvic* offerings (*Bhog*) for the Lord throughout the day. While observing the fast according to their traditions, devotees may consume fruits, milk, *makhana* (fox nuts), *sabudana* (sago), and other *falahari* (fast-friendly) foods.

After adorning Laddu Gopal, offer sandalwood paste, *roli* (vermilion), *akshat* (unbroken rice grains), flowers, and *Tulsi* leaves. Light incense and a *diya* (lamp) and meditate upon Lord Krishna. Thereafter, recite the Janmashtami story or chant mantras dedicated to Lord Krishna. At midnight, celebrate the Lord's birth by blowing a conch and ringing bells, followed by performing the *Aarti*.
