Gold and silver prices have been witnessing significant volatility lately. After a sharp decline over the past two days, a slight rise was observed in gold and silver prices yesterday (Wednesday). Given this, it is crucial to take a look at today's rates. Notably, on this first day of October, prices for both metals have risen in the global market.

**Rise in International Market Prices**
Prices for both gold and silver saw an uptick in the international market, specifically on Comex, today. According to Comex data available at the time of writing, the price of gold rose by 0.20%, reaching $4,195.10 per ounce. Meanwhile, silver prices climbed by 1.43%, trading at $61.45035 per ounce.
**Rates Surge in the Domestic Market**
Prices for both gold and silver have also risen in the domestic bullion market. Upon market opening, gold was seen trading at approximately ₹1.49 lakh per 10 grams. Similarly, silver prices rose to trade around ₹2.25 lakh per kilogram.
**Gold Rates on MCX**
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for October delivery rose by ₹500 by the time of writing, trading at ₹1,49,489 per 10 grams. Silver also saw a significant rise of ₹2,100, reaching a price of ₹2,25,740 per kilogram. Check Rates Before Buying
Gold and silver prices surged as the market opened today; 24-carat gold is trading at approximately ₹149,170 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold is hovering around ₹137,700 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold is trending near ₹112,400 per 10 grams. Silver prices in India were seen trading at around ₹226,360 per kilogram.
What Caused the Surge?
Experts attribute this rise primarily to aggressive buying by investors at lower levels—often referred to as "dip buying"—and a strong global trend. According to Gaurav Garg, Head of Research at brokerage firm Lemon, traders purchased gold heavily at lower rates following a recent decline, leading to a price recovery. However, fluctuations in the US dollar somewhat capped the extent of this surge.
