Diwali 2026 Dates: The festival of Diwali is celebrated every year on the day of *Kartik Amavasya* (the new moon day of the Kartik month). Dhanteras, or Dhan Trayodashi, is observed one or two days before Diwali. On this day, people observe a fast and worship Lord Shiva; Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Kuber are also worshipped during the *Pradosh Kaal* (evening twilight period). While people purchase jewelry, new homes, cars, or property on Dhanteras, performing Lakshmi Puja on Diwali ensures the continued presence of wealth and prosperity throughout the year, opening doors to financial progress for the family.
