Sequels have become commonplace in Indian cinema, but the arrival of a third installment represents a whole new level of commitment. It signifies that audiences have truly embraced the characters and that the story holds real substance. Ultimately, the filmmakers are confident they can recreate that same magic on screen. Work is currently underway on the third installment of seven major films. Let’s take a look at these blockbuster franchise films that are set to make a splash in theaters soon.

Pushpa 3 – The Rampage: Allu Arjun created a massive sensation on the big screen as Pushpa. The franchise's second film proved to be a huge box-office success. Director Sukumar has confirmed that work on 'Pushpa 3' has begun. Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna will return to reprise their roles as Pushpa and Srivalli. There is also speculation that Rashmika Mandanna’s husband, Vijay Deverakonda, might appear as the villain in the third part, which would make the on-screen face-off even more intriguing. However, fans will have to wait a while for this.
Gadar 3: It has been 25 years since Sunny Deol first dazzled audiences as Tara Singh, yet the journey of 'Gadar' is far from over. Both films in this franchise were box-office blockbusters. Director Anil Sharma has recently confirmed that work on 'Gadar 3' has commenced. Sunny Deol will once again appear in his iconic role, and the return of Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma is also highly anticipated. Although a release date has not yet been finalized, the filmmakers are already in full preparation mode.
Stree 3: This horror-comedy shattered box-office records in 2024. A third installment has already been confirmed. Maddock Films recently announced the release date for 'Stree 3' as August 13, 2027. Amar Kaushik will once again direct the pairing of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Akshay Kumar, who created a buzz with his cameo in 'Stree 2', might play a pivotal role in the story this time around.
Border 3: 'Border 2' was released on Republic Day 2026 and took the box office by storm. The makers have already announced the next installment; producer Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta of JP Dutta Films have given the green light to 'Border 3'. Sunny Deol will continue to shine in the lead role, and Varun Dhawan will also be seen sharing the screen with him.
Drishyam 3: The wait for Ajay Devgn's highly anticipated 'Drishyam 3' is nearing its end, as filming has already wrapped up. Director Abhishek Pathak has confirmed that the movie is in the post-production stage and is scheduled for theatrical release on October 2, 2026—coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran will reprise their original roles, while stars like Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj will appear in new characters.
KGF: Chapter 3: The return of 'Rocky Bhai' (Yash) to the silver screen is confirmed; the only big question is—when? Hombale Films recently shared a video confirming the Yash-starrer 'KGF: Chapter 3' and promising the arrival of a new chapter soon. Director Prashanth Neel has stated that the script is fully ready.

Hera Pheri 3: 'Hera Pheri 3' has seen the most ups and downs on this list. Following legal disputes and various hurdles, reports suggest that the film could go on floors by the end of this year and is slated for release in 2027. The good news is that the iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal—in the roles of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao—is returning to tickle the funny bones of fans once again.
