This time, four films from India have made their place in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025. This includes Neeraj Gheyvan's 'Homebound' (starring Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor), Anurag Kashyap's 'Bandar' (starring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra), Vikas Mishra's 'Bayan' (starring Huma Qureshi and Chandrachur Singh) and the restored version of Ramesh Sippy's film 'Sholay' (starring Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri and Sanjeev Kumar).

Proud moment for Bobby Deol
TIFF 2025 will be no less than a festival for the Deol family. Both 'Bandar' and 'Sholay' have been selected this time. Bobby Deol is playing an important role in 'Bandar', while the character of his father, Dharmendra, in 'Sholay' is still alive in the memories of the people. A source from the film production said, 'Bobby Deol will represent India at TIFF this time. He is very happy because his and his father Dharmendra's film will be screened together on a big platform like TIFF. This is a very special moment for him. Dharmendra has not been allowed to travel due to his health, so he will not be able to go to Toronto, but Bobby will definitely be a part of it.''
A special coincidence
There is a unique coincidence between Bobby Deol's career and this occasion of TIFF. Bobby first appeared on the big screen in the 1977 film 'Dharam Veer'. In this, he played the childhood role of his father, Dharmendra. This film was released on 6 September. Now, on the same date, screening of both 'Bandar' and 'Sholay' has been scheduled at the Toronto Film Festival. The source further said, 'Bobby considers this coincidence as God's blessing. He says that 6 September has always been special for his career. On this day in 1977, the audience saw his first glimpse, and now, after so many years, on the same day, his film and his father's film will be shown together on the international platform. This is like a dream come true for him.'
Working hard for the next film
At present, Bobby Deol is shooting for his next film with actress Fatima Sana Shaikh in Ladakh. This film is being made under the direction of director Priyanka Ghose. Ladakh's weather and altitude can be a challenge for the actors, but Bobby is constantly working on his fitness. Sources say, 'Bobby is currently shooting very hard, but as soon as the TIFF program comes closer, he will take a break from shooting and leave for Toronto.'
