Chyawanprash Recipe: Cold winds cause the body to lose its suppleness and feel sluggish. In such times, a spoonful of Chyawanprash with warm milk becomes an Ayurvedic remedy during the winter months. This herbal mixture, derived from ancient Ayurvedic texts, guarantees not just taste, but pure health. The tang of amla (Indian gooseberry), the sweetness of honey, and the aroma of herbs combine in your own kitchen to create this immunity-boosting mixture.

While many options are available in the market, you can give your body true strength and immunity by making this centuries-old organic preparation at home. Here's how to make pure Chyawanprash at home, without adulteration or shortcuts.
How to make Chyawanprash at home?
Wash one kilogram of fresh amla and pressure cook it for two whistles. Once cooled, remove the seeds and make a pulp.
Boil the selected dried herbs, such as pippali, guduchi, and ashwagandha, in 1 liter of water over low heat for 1-2 hours, until the water is reduced to about half. Then strain it through a sieve or muslin cloth. This will be your herbal decoction.

In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine the amla pulp and the herbal decoction. Then add jaggery or sugar and cook over low heat, stirring continuously. When the mixture thickens and starts separating from the sides of the pan, add 4-5 tablespoons of ghee.
Once the mixture has cooled slightly, add honey. Also add spices like cinnamon and cardamom for both flavor and added benefits.
Once completely cooled, transfer it to an airtight glass bottle or jar. This mixture stays fresh for months. It is best to consume 1-2 teaspoons daily on an empty stomach or with warm milk.
