Many of us enjoy a short afternoon nap. It certainly provides a moment of relief from a tiring day, but did you know that, according to doctors, afternoon naps can be fatal?
A Harvard study has revealed the shocking fact that napping in the afternoon can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and even premature death. Let's learn more about this from Dr. Aditi Dhamija.
Know These 2 Rules Before Sleeping
Actually, afternoon naps aren't bad in themselves. The danger arises when you sleep at the wrong time or for the wrong duration. Naps taken at the wrong time or in the wrong manner act like poison to the body, harming your health internally.
Don't worry. According to doctors, the same Harvard study also explains how you can protect yourself from this danger. If you want to sleep in the afternoon and avoid illness, you just need to follow these two simple rules:
Right duration: Your nap should only last between 10 and 30 minutes. Sleeping longer than this can be harmful.

Right time: The safest time for this short afternoon nap is between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Don't sleep after 2:00 PM.
The most important thing is that you should get the main part of your sleep at night. If you want a restful, undisturbed night's sleep, avoid sleeping too long in the afternoon.
