Raising children is a major responsibility, and parenting styles vary across the world. Dr. Ravi Malik, Chairman of 'Radix Healthcare' in Nirman Vihar, Delhi, and a senior pediatrician, recently highlighted three unique and important aspects of Swiss parenting in an Instagram post.

Dr. Malik believes that Indian parents, too, should adopt these practices from the Swiss. Let us explore these three distinctive parenting methods:
**Fostering self-reliance at an early age**
In Switzerland, children are taught to be self-reliant from a very young age. After 12:00 PM, children as young as six or seven walk home from school unaccompanied. Once home, they spend quality time with their parents, have a meal, and then return to school.
**Treating children with respect in public places**
Swiss parents strictly adhere to the rule of never scolding their children in public. They neither shout at them nor embarrass them in front of others while outdoors. This ensures that the child's self-esteem remains intact.
**Outdoor play is essential, regardless of the weather**
Children in Switzerland are not confined to the overprotective environment of their homes. Whether it is snowing or the sun is blazing, children are sent outside to play for at least two hours every day. Outdoor play areas have been created almost everywhere to facilitate the children's overall development.
