Each month features two *Ekadashi* dates—one during the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) and the other during the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase). While every *Ekadashi* has its own unique importance, *Rama Ekadashi*—one of the 24 *Ekadashis* that occur throughout the year—holds a special place.

It falls during the *Krishna Paksha* of the month of *Kartik*. It is believed that by observing a fast on this day, Lord Vishnu fulfills all the wishes of his devotees. According to the Vedic *Panchang* (almanac), the *Ekadashi tithi* of the *Kartik Krishna Paksha* begins at 11:03 AM on Wednesday, November 4th, and concludes at 10:35 AM on Thursday, November 5th. Based on the *Udaya Tithi* (the *tithi* prevailing at sunrise), *Rama Ekadashi* will be observed on Thursday, November 5th. The *paran* (breaking of the fast) will take place on November 6th, during the *Dwadashi tithi*.
