Pitru Paksha, which began on September 26, will continue until October 10. This 16-day period dedicated to ancestors holds special religious significance. It is believed that acts performed with devotion—such as *Tarpan* (offering water), *Shraddha* (ritual homage), charity, and service—bring peace to the souls of the ancestors. It is also believed that these rituals provide relief from troubles associated with *Pitru Dosh* (ancestral affliction). Let us explore the essential rituals to be performed and the precautions to be observed during Pitru Paksha.

What should be done during Pitru Paksha?
**Bathe in the morning and pay obeisance to ancestors**
Start your day during Pitru Paksha by bathing and wearing clean clothes. Afterward, remember your ancestors and offer them respectful salutations. Offering water to the Sun God in the morning is also considered auspicious.
**Do not overlook *Tarpan***
There is a tradition of performing *Tarpan* for ancestors using water, black sesame seeds, and *Kusha* grass during Pitru Paksha. According to religious belief, this brings satisfaction and peace to the ancestors.
**Perform *Pind Daan* according to rituals**
Prepare *Pinds* (ritual offerings) using cooked rice, black sesame seeds, and ghee, and offer them on a banana leaf or *Kusha* grass in accordance with tradition. It is believed that *Pind Daan* performed with devotion helps alleviate *Pitru Dosh*.
**Feed Brahmins and the needy**
During this period, one should feed Brahmins and the needy according to one's means. Additionally, donating food grains, clothing, or other items within one's capacity is considered a virtuous act. Religious belief holds that this brings peace to the ancestors.
**Observe the *Panchgras* tradition**

This is considered one of the significant traditions of the period. It is believed that this practice brings peace to the souls of the ancestors and can provide relief from *Pitru Dosh*. Follow a Sattvic Diet
