A visit to Mount Abu—Rajasthan’s only hill station—is a memorable experience for every tourist. Even before reaching this beautiful hill station, located in the Sirohi district, one is treated to a unique spectacle of natural beauty. As you travel from Abu Road toward Mount Abu, the first striking viewpoint you encounter amidst the mountains is known as ‘Saat Ghoom’ (Seven Bends). Nestled among the towering Aravalli hills, deep valleys, and winding roads, this picnic spot has become quite popular among visitors.

The main route from the foothills to the hill station spans approximately 17 kilometers, characterized by a continuous ascent. About 7 kilometers from the foothills, there is a stretch of road featuring seven consecutive, sharp, and challenging hairpin bends. According to local tour guide Chintu Yadav, the spot gets its name, ‘Saat Ghoom’ (Seven Bends), precisely because of these seven sharp turns. Tourists heading to Mount Abu often stop their vehicles here for their first break.
A Paradise for Nature Lovers and Photography Enthusiasts
For nature lovers, this viewpoint is nothing short of a blessing. From here, one can take in panoramic views of the majestic Aravalli hills, lush green valleys, and the town nestled in the foothills below. Perhaps the most captivating sight is watching vehicles navigate the winding road far beneath. During the monsoon and winter seasons, the landscape—enveloped in clouds and vibrant greenery—leaves visitors absolutely spellbound. It has become a top choice for tourists looking to capture stunning photographs and selfies.
Excellent Facilities for Refreshments and Relaxation
The ‘Saat Ghoom’ viewpoint has been well-developed to provide a comfortable space for tourists to sit and spend time. The area features various small local shops and cafes. Amidst the cool mountain breezes, tourists enjoy hot tea, coffee, Maggi, and other fast-food items. It is an excellent picnic spot for those traveling with family and friends, offering a perfect setting to sit back and take in the beautiful natural scenery.

Essential Precautions and Best Time to Visit
Visitors should keep a few things in mind while exploring this viewpoint. A large number of grey langurs inhabit the area; while they generally do not attack, they may attempt to snatch food items from one's hands. According to Forest Department regulations, feeding wildlife is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, as there is a risk of encountering wild animals in this hilly region after dusk, it is best to avoid staying here overnight. The site sees its highest influx of tourists during Diwali and the New Year.
