Aarti is performed, and the fast is completed the next morning by performing charity and breaking the fast. There are 24 to 26 Ekadashi Vrats every year. Let's learn about Ekadashi Vrat. Why does Ekadashi occur twice a month? What is the significance of Ekadashi Vrat?

What is Ekadashi Vrat?
According to the calendar, these dates occur twice every month, from Pratipada to Chaturdashi. Amavasya and Purnima occur on the 15th day. Each date has its own representative deity. The deity of Ekadashi Tithi is Lord Vishnu. He is the protector of the universe. By his grace, all beings are saved. Those who worship Lord Vishnu seek the blessings of Hari by fasting and performing puja on Ekadashi. For this reason, they observe a fast on every Ekadashi. This is known as the Ekadashi fast. Ekadashi is also called Gyaras, and therefore, the Ekadashi fast is also called the Gyaras fast.
Why is Ekadashi fast observed twice a month?
According to the calendar, every month has two phases. The phase from Pratipada to Amavasya is called Krishna Paksha, while the phase from Pratipada to Purnima after Amavasya is called Shukla Paksha. Together, these two phases complete a month. Each phase has one Ekadashi date. One Ekadashi in Krishna Paksha and one in Shukla Paksha. Therefore, there are two Ekadashi fasts in a month.
