Bollywood vs. South: 'Chand Mera Dil' Slows Down; Ayushmann and Suriya's Films Create a Sensation at the Box Office..

Every week at the box office, it is the audience that decides the fate of new film releases. Sometimes, even the presence of big stars fails to give a film the lift it expects; at other times, strong content and positive word-of-mouth turn a movie into a long-distance runner. A similar scenario is currently unfolding in movie theaters. On one side stands Ananya Panday and Lakshya's romantic film, *Chand Mera Dil*, which appears to be struggling to draw audiences to theaters since its release.

Conversely, Ayushmann Khurrana's comedy entertainer and South superstar Suriya's action-fantasy film continue to maintain a strong foothold. Interestingly, while the three films belong to different genres and cater to distinct audiences, a comparison of their box office performance has now become a hot topic of discussion. Consequently, all eyes are now fixed on which film ultimately emerges victorious and which one falls behind.

Ananya Panday and Lakshya star as a couple whose relationship faces numerous challenges. Upon its release, the film received a mixed response from both audiences and critics—a reaction that was subsequently reflected in its box office earnings.

According to data from Sacnilk, the film recorded a net collection of ₹1.30 crore in India on its second Friday—marking the eighth day of its theatrical run. With this, the film's total domestic earnings have reached ₹20.75 crore. After opening with ₹3 crore on its first day, the film gained some momentum during its opening weekend; it raked in ₹3.75 crore on Saturday and ₹4.25 crore on Sunday. However, earnings witnessed a decline as the weekdays began. Over the course of eight days, the film's worldwide gross collection has reached approximately ₹27.55 crore.

Ananya Panday's previous film, *Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri*, had garnered a net collection of over ₹30 crore within eight days. In contrast, despite receiving positive reviews, Lakshya's debut film, *Kill*, earned approximately ₹11.90 crore during the same eight-day period. Consequently, all eyes are now fixed on how strongly 'Chand Mera Dil' manages to bounce back during its second weekend.

On the other hand, Ayushmann Khurrana's comedy film, 'Pati Patni Aur Woh 2', continues to deliver a steady performance. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film also features Rakul Preet Singh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Sara Ali Khan in pivotal roles. On its 15th day of release, the film recorded a net collection of ₹1.25 crore. With this, its total net earnings in India have reached ₹43.20 crore, while its gross collection stands at ₹51.26 crore.

The film has also received a positive response in international markets. It has garnered a gross collection of ₹7.65 crore from overseas markets, bringing its total worldwide collection to ₹58.91 crore. It is anticipated that the film could cross the ₹60 crore mark this weekend.
