Today's women lead very busy lives. They manage their jobs, take care of their families, and also try to fulfill their dreams. But amidst all this, they often neglect regular health check-ups.

In this regard, Dr. Anita K. Sharma, Senior Director and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, says that a health check-up once a year is not just a formality, but an essential way to stay healthy in the long run. Lifestyle-related diseases are increasing among women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s these days, making regular check-ups even more important. This allows for timely treatment of diseases, preventing them from becoming serious.
CBC
A Complete Blood Count (CBC) provides information about the overall health of the body. It helps detect anemia, infections, and immune system problems. Along with this, blood sugar, liver, kidney, and cholesterol tests should also be done once a year. These tests help in identifying early signs of diabetes, high cholesterol, and organ-related problems.
Thyroid Test
Thyroid problems are more common in women than in men. A blood test for TSH and sometimes T3 and T4 can help detect thyroid problems early. Timely detection can prevent infertility, irregular periods, and heart problems.
Cervical Cancer Screening
Cervical cancer is a disease that can be prevented with timely screening, yet many women lose their lives due to a lack of screening. Doctors recommend a Pap smear test every year after the age of 21.
Breast Examination
Women should perform self-examinations of their breasts every month and should have a clinical breast examination by a doctor at least once a year. Women over 40 or those with a family history of breast cancer should have a mammogram every year. If breast cancer is detected in its early stages, the chances of complete recovery are very high. Vitamin D
Many young women today are found to be deficient in vitamin D because they spend less time in the sun and are mostly indoors at home or in the office. Getting a vitamin D and calcium test once a year, and a bone density test after the age of 40, can help prevent problems like bone weakness and osteoporosis.

Reproductive and Hormonal Health Checkups
Women who are menstruating should have a gynecological checkup at least once a year. This may include an ultrasound, hormone tests, and screening for conditions such as PCOS, fibroids, or endometriosis.
