Controversy erupts over the film in West Bengal.
The trailer of the film 'The Bengal Files' was to be released in Kolkata, but the administration banned it and did not allow it to be released. The film's producer, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, also had an argument with the police regarding this. Before the release of the film, producer Pallavi Joshi wrote an open letter to the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, pleading to allow the film to be screened peacefully in West Bengal.

She wrote in the letter that 'The Bengal Files' is a very important film, which depicts a painful part of India's history, the Hindu genocide, and the tragedies that happened during the partition of India. This film is not only a story but a voice of truth, which is important to reach the public.

She further stated in the letter that the Chief Minister of West Bengal had earlier opposed this film, and since then, political pressure has increased on it. Several police FIRs have been registered, the trailer has also been blocked, and the most serious thing is that theater owners are afraid to show the film as they are getting threats from people from a political party people. Because of this, efforts are being made to stop the release of the film.

The film is based on the background of 'Direct Action Day' held in Kolkata on 16 August 1946. The film is the third and final part of Vivek Agnihotri's 'Files Trilogy', which previously included 'The Tashkent Files' and 'The Kashmir Files'.
