Parenting Tips: Children's play and fun period never ends without falling and colliding. Children keep running around the house, sometimes they fall from the bed and sometimes they collide with the wall. During this, the reaction of the parents is very important. Have you ever seen that when the child falls, the parents quickly pick him up and say, "Nothing happened, don't cry!" Or after the child falls, they pretend to hit the wall or bed. However, these reactions can adversely affect the mental development of children.

What should not be done when children fall?
Such reactions suppress the emotions of children and can hinder their mental development. When children fall or collide, they feel very uncomfortable and their crying or panic is a natural reaction. The parents saying "Don't cry, nothing happened" gives the children the message that their emotions are not important. This gives the children the impression that what they are feeling is not right and they should suppress their feelings. This can have a bad effect on the self-esteem of children.
Blaming children is not right.
If the parents say “It is the wall’s fault, let’s hit it” when the child falls, then it can have another bad effect. In this way, the child learns that it is okay to blame others for his mistakes. This habit can also be seen in his life when he grows up. When he faces a problem, he will blame the people around him instead of taking responsibility for himself.
It is important to focus on body positivity.
Another important advice is related to the mental health of children. If the child is seen in a particular dress and feels chubby or fat in it, then the parents should not look at him in this way but should positively treat him. Calling the child fat or fatty comes under the category of body shaming, which affects the child’s self-esteem and confidence. Children should never be criticized for their body shape or form. Instead, things should be said to increase their self-esteem.

What should be the right response when a child falls?
When a child falls or bumps into something, the most important thing is that parents make him feel that his feelings are understood. If the child is crying, explain to him calmly and make him feel that this is a normal thing and he will be fine. Apart from this, tell the child that he is not responsible for bumping into something, but it can be an accident. Such positive and supportive reactions not only make the child mentally strong but also keep him emotionally stable.
