Self-Study Habits for Smart Kids: Nowadays, most parents are so concerned about their children's education that they rush them into tutoring. In some cases, this is necessary, but if a child is inculcated with the habit of self-reading from an early age, they not only learn better but also become curious, self-reliant, and intelligent. The habit of self-reading not only helps with studies but also helps them face future competition. Here are some easy and effective ways to inculcate the habit of self-reading in children.

How to Make Kids Read Independently From an Early Age:
Don't Pressure Them to Study
Instead of pressuring children to do homework, explain to them that studying is a way to improve themselves. Help them, sit with them, but don't force them.
Teach Textbooks in an Easy Way
The best way to engage children with books is to teach them in small chunks, without taking up too much time. This will prevent boredom and maintain interest.
Create Pointers and Make Notes Visual
Write important points from each chapter with colorful sketch pens and stick them on the fridge, wall, or noticeboard. Keeping these notes in plain sight makes them easier to remember and facilitates frequent revision.
Teach While Walking or Talking
Instead of sitting down, teaching while walking or playing will help your child retain the information longer. Teaching conversationally also prevents boredom.
Give Examples from Google or Books
Show examples related to the chapter from the internet or an interesting book, and discuss them. This helps the child understand how the things in books relate to real life.
Connect studies with current affairs.
If a topic relates to news or current affairs, discuss it. For example, if there's a science chapter, share a recent news story related to it.
Create a study environment yourself.
When your child studies, sit with them and read something, whether it's a newspaper or a book. This will teach them that studying isn't just a chore, it's also a habit.
Set a fixed time for self-reading
Children's habits are formed by a timetable. So, set aside at least 20 to 30 minutes every day for self-reading. This time could be before bed or after school homework. Gradually, this habit will become a part of their daily routine.

Buy interesting books appropriate for their age.
Encourage children to befriend books. Give them the best-selling books from reputable publishers. Buy books that are appropriate for their age and interests. Picture books and storybooks are best for younger children, while older children prefer science fiction, adventure, or comics. Choosing the right books for their age will help children find learning fun, not a burden, and they will begin to read on their own.
If you want your child to become truly smart, encourage them to read on their own. This habit will not only make them self-reliant but will also give them the confidence to learn every subject on their own.
