Parenting: Are toys making your child a victim of autism? How to protect your child from this disease?

How chemicals in toys can linked to autism in children: ASD i.e. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a disease that robs children of their childhood. The child does not behave normally, avoids conversation, is not social, avoids eye contact, and is extremely stubborn. Symptoms of this disease start appearing in a 3-month-old child. If the child comes in contact with certain types of chemicals through toys, then the risk of this disease increases.

Understand autism

Dr. Sanjay Gupta of Internal Medicine says that autism is a brain condition in which the child's brain does not work like normal children. It takes time for him to learn and understand new things. When he is asked something, he repeats things. According to the World Health Organization, this disease is 4 times more common in boys than in girls. But with the help of some therapy, the child can be cured.

These chemicals are dangerous for children.

A study was conducted on children aged 3 to 12 years in AIIMS. Half of these children were normal and half were victims of autism. In the study, 7 heavy metals were found in the blood of 32% of children above the normal range. Chromium had the highest amount 27%. After this, mercury was 22%, lead was 21%, selenium was 19%. The research found that all these chemicals were found more in children suffering from autism than in normal children. Chemicals like lead are found in toys. On the other hand, plastic toys contain chlorinated paraffin. Not only this, research by America's Rowan Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine revealed that women who use plastic more during pregnancy, and their child has an increased risk of this disease. Because plastic contains a chemical called BPA.

Buy toys wisely

Most of the toys sold in the market are made of plastic and rubber in which heavy chemicals are used. While buying toys, definitely check the non-toxic label on it. Keep children away from plastic toys as much as possible. Buy toys made of wood, natural rubber, cloth or wool for children. Toys made of cloth and wool can be washed easily. Apart from this, feed the children with you. Play running games with them.

A gluten-free diet helps!

AIIMS research also said that if a child is given a gluten-free diet, he will avoid being hyperactive, he will be able to focus on one thing and his sleep will not be affected. Gluten is present in many things including wheat roti, bread, pasta, noodles, pastries, biscuits, cakes, and all these things are liked by children. Parents should give them things like beans, oats, corn, gram, ragi, soya, tofu, rice, amaranth, quinoa, dry fruits in their diet. All these are gluten free.
