Sugar – ¼ cup

Ghee – 1 tablespoon

Cashews – 7-8

Almonds – 7-8

Pistachios – 5-6

Cardamom powder – ½ teaspoon

Saffron – 7-8 strands

Method of making

To make Makhana Kheer, first of all, you have to roast the Makhanas well. For this, heat ghee in a pan and fry the Makhanas in it till they become light golden. When they become crispy, take them out on a plate and keep them aside to cool. When they cool down, grind half the Makhanas coarsely and keep the other half whole.

Now heat the milk in a heavy bottom vessel and keep stirring till it boils. Now add the roasted Makhanas to it and let it cook on low flame. When the Makhanas become soft well, then add sugar to it and stir.

Now add chopped cashews, almonds, pistachios, and cardamom powder. If you want, you can soak saffron in 1 teaspoon hot milk and add it to the kheer.

Now let the kheer cook on low flame for 10-15 minutes, so that the makhanas dissolve well in the milk and the kheer thickens. When the kheer becomes thick, turn off the gas. Finally, garnish it with chopped nuts and saffron.
