Ingredients for making gooseberry pickle

Gooseberry - 500 grams

Mustard oil - 1/2 cup

Mustard seeds - 2 tablespoons

Fennel seeds - 2 tablespoons

Fenugreek seeds - 1 tablespoon

Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon

Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon

Asafoetida - 1 pinch

Salt - according to taste

Method

Nowadays, gooseberries are available in the market at a very cheap price. In such a situation, to make gooseberry pickle in an easy way, first wash the gooseberry thoroughly and keep it on a cotton cloth, so that its water dries up. If even a little water is left in it, the pickle will spoil quickly. Therefore, keep it on a cotton cloth for some time and let it dry.

When the water dries up, cut it into two parts from the middle and keep it on the cloth itself. After this, now comes the turn to prepare the spices, so for that, first of all, heat mustard oil in a pan. When the oil starts to smoke, reduce the heat and add asafoetida. Then add fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, and coarse mustard seeds and fry lightly.

When the spices are completely fried, add turmeric, red chili powder, and salt and mix well. After this, add chopped gooseberries and mix all the ingredients well.

Now, finally, cook it for five minutes. This will make the gooseberries a little soft, and the spices will also mix in with it. Now let the pickle cool down and then fill it in a clean and dry glass jar. It tastes amazing with everything from dal-rice to roti-paratha.
