What to do if the baby isn't burping: A young baby's stomach is very delicate. Gas often builds up after feeding, causing discomfort and crying. This is why doctors recommend burping every time after a feed. However, sometimes parents hold their baby for long periods of time, yet they still don't burp. Renowned pediatrician Medhat Abu Shaban has provided an easy solution to this problem. She shared a video on her Instagram handle, explaining a trick that can burp a baby in just 60 seconds. Let's learn more about this amazing trick:

Why is burping important?
When a baby drinks milk, a small amount of air enters the stomach. This air turns into gas, causing discomfort, stomach pain, or bloating. Failure to burp causes the baby to regurgitate milk repeatedly. Therefore, burping after every feed is crucial.
What to do?
Hold the baby in your lap and hold him/her against your shoulder.
First, hold the baby in your lap with his/her head resting on your shoulder and his/her stomach against your chest. This position is considered best for burping.
Massage the baby's back in an '8' shape.
Now, gently massage the baby's back using two fingers or the palm of your hand, making an '8' shape. This movement helps bring up trapped gas in the baby's stomach.
Massage from the bottom up.
After making the '8' for a while, gently rub upward from the baby's lower back to the shoulders. This helps lift the trapped gas and cause a burp within a few seconds.

Doctors recommend doing this repeatedly for 60 seconds. Massage for a while in an '8' shape and then rub from the bottom up. Pediatricians say this provides immediate relief from stomach pain and gas. You can also try this.
