Ingredients for Dahi Vada

  • 1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
  • ½ cup yogurt (dahi)
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Dahi Vada

1. Soaking & Grinding the Lentils

  • Soak urad dal in water for 4-5 hours.
  • Once soaked, drain the water and blend the dal into a smooth paste using a mixer or food processor. Ensure the paste is soft and fluffy.

2. Mixing the Spices

  • Transfer the ground dal into a bowl.
  • Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, asafoetida, and salt.
