Dhanteras 2025 Special Recipes: The festival of Dhanteras marks the first day of the five-day festival of lights, Diwali. Everything from cleaning the house to shopping and special pujas holds special significance on this auspicious occasion. On such a sacred occasion, starting and ending the day with delicious, traditional food doubles the joy of the festival.

Breakfast
If you'd like, you can make gram flour or moong dal cheelas for breakfast. They're delicious. To make gram flour cheela, first take a cup of gram flour and mix it with finely chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, a little carom seeds, salt, and water to make a thick batter.
Heat a pan, apply a little oil, pour a ladle of the batter, and spread it thinly. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato sauce. This is a light and healthy breakfast option.
Lunch
For the kachori, mix flour with a little salt, carom seeds, and oil to form a soft dough. For the filling, add fennel seeds, asafoetida, red chili powder, and coriander powder to boiled moong dal or urad dal and fry. Form small balls, fill them with the lentils, roll them out, and fry them on low heat.
For the vegetable, boil potatoes, then make a masala of tomato, ginger, and green chili, and then add the potatoes. Add salt, turmeric, garam masala, and a little water, and cook for 10 minutes. Serve with kachoris and hot potato curry.
Dinner
Soak a cup of basmati rice for 30 minutes. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add whole spices like bay leaves, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon. Then add finely chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and sauté. Then add vegetables like carrots, peas, beans, and cauliflower and cook for a while.

Add salt, red chili, biryani masala, and soaked rice, followed by 2 cups of water. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, garnish with coriander leaves and fried onions. Serve with raita.
