Vastu Tips: These idols kept in the temple bring negativity and can rob your home of peace and happiness—remove them immediately.

In Hinduism and Vastu Shastra, the home temple is considered a sacred space. It is believed to be the source from which positive energy, happiness, and peace radiate throughout the entire house. Vastu Shastra states that the idols of deities kept in the temple influence the lives of family members.

It is often observed that people place certain images in their home temples that do not yield auspicious results and instead cast a negative influence on the home's atmosphere. Knowing this, you might be wondering exactly which types of idols or images should be avoided in the temple. Let us explain this to you in detail in this article.

Which images should not be kept in the temple?
**Images of Ancestors:** Vastu Shastra prohibits placing images of ancestors in the temple. Ancestors should have a separate place in the home. According to Vastu Shastra, the southern direction of the house is considered the abode of ancestors; therefore, their images should be placed in that direction.

**Fierce Forms of Deities:** Furthermore, one should never place images depicting the fierce or wrathful forms of deities in the temple. Keeping images such as Lord Shiva’s *Nataraja* form, *Kaal Bhairav*, or angry depictions of Goddess Kali and Lord Hanuman is forbidden. It is believed that keeping such images in the temple can increase mental stress and unrest. Therefore, it is considered auspicious to keep images of deities that portray them in calm, serene, and benevolent postures, such as those offering blessings.

**Broken or Damaged Idols:** Broken or damaged idols of deities should not be kept in the temple either. It is believed that worshipping a broken or damaged idol disrupts the flow of positive energy and prevents one from receiving the full spiritual benefits of the worship. If there is a broken or damaged idol in your temple, you should immerse it in a holy river or place it near a Peepal tree. Depiction of the Mahabharata War – Furthermore, one should not keep any image depicting the Mahabharata war in the temple. According to Vastu Shastra, keeping such an image in the temple can lead to mental unrest in one's life.
