Sweet potato is a nutritious and light vegetable. A chaat made with boiled sweet potatoes is not only delicious but also considered good for digestion. It has a wonderful balance of tanginess, sweetness, and spices, making it a perfect healthy snack for all seasons. Importantly, if you are fasting, you can use rock salt and enjoy it as a fasting-friendly chaat.

Ingredients
Sweet potatoes – 3–4 medium-sized
Ghee/Oil – 1 teaspoon (optional, for lightly roasting in a pan)
Green chili – 1, finely chopped
Fresh coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
Pomegranate seeds – 2 tablespoons
Yogurt – 3–4 tablespoons (optional)
Roasted cumin powder – ½ teaspoon
Red chili powder – ½ teaspoon
Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon (omit if fasting)
Rock salt/Regular salt – to taste
Sweet chutney – 1 tablespoon (optional)
Green chutney – 1 tablespoon (optional)
Instructions
1. Boil the sweet potatoes
Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly and boil them in a pressure cooker for 2–3 whistles.
Once cooled, peel and cut them into cubes or round slices.
2. Optional – Lightly roast
Heat a little ghee in a pan and lightly roast the sweet potato pieces for 3–4 minutes until slightly golden brown.
This makes the chaat even more delicious and crispy.
3. Mix the spices
In a large bowl, add the sweet potatoes.
Add rock salt, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and chaat masala (if not fasting).
Mix well, gently.
4. Enhance the flavor
Now add lemon juice, fresh coriander leaves, and green chili.
Garnish with pomegranate seeds to enhance both color and flavor.
5. Yogurt Chaat
If you like yogurt, spread the chaat on a plate and top it with beaten yogurt.
Add some sweet and green chutney for an irresistible taste.

Why is this chaat healthy?
Sweet potatoes have natural sweetness, so no added sugar is needed.
The high fiber content keeps you feeling full.
It provides energy during fasting.
