Today is Ram Navami. It was on this very day in Ayodhya that *Maryada Purushottam* (the Ideal Man), Lord Ram, was born. To celebrate his birth anniversary, religious rituals are performed, and lamps are lit in every household. At the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the 'Surya Tilak' ceremony takes place, and the ceremonial birth of *Ram Lalla* (infant Ram) is enacted. However, on this day, you can also journey to that sacred southern coast where Lord Ram himself worshipped Lord Shiva.

Rameswaram—one of the four *Char Dhams*—is a land where faith meets the sea. Located thousands of kilometers away from North India, this holy shrine lies in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.
In modern times, traveling from Bengaluru to Rameswaram has become easier than ever before. You can reach Rameswaram via all three modes of transport: rail, bus, and road. On Ram Navami, the spiritual significance of offering prayers (*Darshan*) here increases manifold. It is believed that performing *Darshan* and *Abhishek* (ritual bathing of the deity) on this day helps absolve one of life's afflictions.
