Wheat Flour Halwa Recipe
Total Time: 20 mins
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Course: Dessert
Servings: 2 people
Cuisine: Indian
Ingredients for Wheat Flour Halwa:
Wheat flour – 1 bowl
Desi ghee (clarified butter) – 1 bowl
Sugar – 1 bowl
Water – 3 bowls
Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Dry fruits (cashews, almonds, pistachios) – finely chopped
Method for Making Wheat Flour Halwa:
First, combine 3 bowls of water and 1 bowl of sugar in a vessel and place it on medium heat. Heat the mixture only until the sugar has completely dissolved and the water is hot; then, turn off the flame.
Next, heat half a bowl of ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan (kadhai). Once hot, add the chopped cashews and almonds, roast them until lightly golden, and remove them to a plate.
Then, add the remaining half-bowl of ghee to the pan. Once the ghee melts, add the bowl of wheat flour.
Keep the flame on medium and roast the flour while stirring continuously. Gradually, the flour's color will change, and a nutty, aromatic fragrance will fill the house.
Continue roasting the flour until it turns golden brown and begins to release ghee.
Once the flour is well-roasted, slowly pour the prepared hot sugar water into the pan. While pouring in the water, keep stirring the flour in the pan continuously with your other hand to prevent lumps from forming.

Now, reduce the heat to low. The mixture will begin to thicken within 2–3 minutes. At this stage, add the cardamom powder and fried nuts.
Continue stirring the halwa until it starts pulling away from the sides of the pan and a little ghee begins to appear on the surface.
Once the halwa starts separating from the pan, turn off the heat and garnish with dry fruits. The atta halwa is ready.
