Homemade Skin Whitening Soap: Remove stubborn grime and tanning from your neck—make this soap at home for just ₹5..

DIY Body Polishing Soap for Glowing Skin: Often, due to neglect, stubborn layers of grime, dirt, and tanning accumulate over the years on the neck, elbows, and knees. This darkening tends to intensify during the summer and monsoon seasons due to sweating. While commercial chemical-based products claim to clean these areas, the results are often underwhelming. Instead, you can make a body polishing soap (homemade skin-brightening soap) at home for a minimal cost of just ₹5 to ₹10.

Renowned content creator Poonam Devnani recently shared a recipe for this soap. It deeply cleanses your face and body, removes dead skin, and imparts such a natural glow that you will forget all about expensive body washes. So, let’s learn how to make it!

This soap deeply cleanses your face and body, removes dead skin, and imparts such a natural glow that you will forget all about expensive body washes.
Ingredients for making the soap:
Chana Dal (Split Bengal Gram): 2 tablespoons (for deep cleansing)
Masoor Dal (Red Lentils): 2 tablespoons (for removing tan)
Rice: 2 tablespoons (for skin tightening)
Rose petals: A handful (for freshness and fragrance)
Multani Mitti (Fuller's Earth): 1.5 tablespoons (to control excess oil)
Mulethi Powder (Licorice Root Powder): 1 tablespoon (to reduce pigmentation)
Glycerin soap base: 200 grams (or Pears soap)

Step 1: Prepare the magical Ubtan powder
First, lightly dry-roast 2 tablespoons of Chana Dal in a pan. Chana Dal cleanses the skin deeply. If you do not have Chana Dal, you can use lightly roasted gram flour (besan) instead. Next, lightly roast 2 spoonfuls of red lentils (masoor dal), which act as an excellent natural scrub.

Now, it’s time for 2 spoonfuls of rice. Before using any lentils or rice, it is crucial to wipe them thoroughly with a damp cloth; since we are preparing this for our skin, we shouldn't take any risks! Rice exfoliates the skin and cleanses the pores. Now, combine these three ingredients with rose petals, Fuller's earth (Multani mitti), and licorice root powder (mulethi powder) in a blender and grind them into a fine powder. Your magical powder is ready.

Step 2: Setting the soap using the soap base
Take 200 grams of glycerin soap base and cut it into small pieces. If you don't have a soap base, you can use Pears soap, as glycerin keeps the skin soft even after bathing. Heat some water in a pan and place another vessel over it (using the double boiler method) to melt the soap base using the steam.

Do not place it directly on the flame.

Once the soap has completely melted, turn off the heat and gradually mix in the prepared powder. Make sure to stir continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Now, pour the mixture into a soap mold or a disposable paper teacup that has been lightly greased with coconut oil. Don't be in a rush to unmold it, folks; the soap is quite soft. Wait 3–4 hours or even until the next day before taking it out of the mold.

The right way to use it-
This soap easily lasts for a month. Use it daily while bathing on your neck, face, and entire body. Gently massage (scrub) in a circular motion for 2 minutes and then rinse off with water. You will notice a visible difference in your skin after just the first use. A quick tip: Although it doesn't contain any harmful ingredients, to extend its shelf life, keep one bar in the bathroom and store the rest in the refrigerator.
