"Only the Guru can bring stability to one's existence."
This principle forms the cornerstone of the ancient Vedic *Sanatani* philosophy regarding the management of life and death—a process guided by the Guru; indeed, the Guru is the axis around which every point of the life cycle revolves. The Guru shapes human life and civilized society, liberates the soul from the bonds of *Prarabdha* (destiny/past karma) to guide it toward *Moksha* (liberation), and directs the course of the mind.

Guru Purnima will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, under the Sun's *Nakshatra* (constellation), *Uttara Ashadha*, with the Moon positioned in the *Makara* (Capricorn) zodiac sign. The alignment with the Sun's *Nakshatra* lends a special significance to this Guru Purnima; it is a time when, through the Guru's grace and blessings, one gains the Sun's potent energy, leading to a radiant and luminous life.
On this day, *Vyasa Puja* is performed, and the birth anniversary of Ved Vyasa is celebrated. Guru Purnima falls on the full moon day of the *Ashadha* month. According to Vedic tradition, the Guru holds the supreme position in both life and the cosmos. The Guru is the guiding force that leads one from darkness to light and gives true meaning and purpose to human existence.
When a Guru enters one's life, they enlighten the disciple about the distinction between right and wrong (*Niti* and *Aniti*), righteousness and unrighteousness (*Dharma* and *Adharma*), and the journey from darkness to light. One gains an understanding of spirituality. The Guru liberates the disciple from the shackles of *Prarabdha* and the burden of remorse, guiding life toward the light and granting liberation from karmic entanglements. The Guru is revered as a manifestation of Lord Shiva; on this day, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped.
The arrival of a Guru in one's life dispels all misfortunes and heralds the dawn of good fortune. Without a Guru, rituals (*Yajna*), acts of charity (*Daan*), and pilgrimages (*Tirtha*) undertaken in life go in vain.
Rituals, auspicious deeds, and devotion to the Divine performed in the presence of a Guru bear fruit. Chanting the *Mantra* bestowed by the Guru fulfills all one's desires, and the power of the *Guru Mantra* shields life from the impact of any adversity. It pacifies planetary afflictions, invokes divine grace, and fosters a *sattvic* (pure and virtuous) quality in life.
Any *Yajna* (sacred ritual), *Anushthan* (spiritual observance), or auspicious activity should be undertaken with the Guru's permission; for the Guru's words and commands dispel all flaws and obstacles, and Lord Shiva Himself safeguards the Guru's utterances.
The life of an individual blessed with the Guru's presence becomes truly blessed.

What should be done today?
Today, offer salutations while meditating upon your Guru and your *Ishta Dev* (chosen deity). Light a *ghee* lamp in your home in honor of the Guru. Offer salutations to your parents.
Strive, as much as possible, to remain in the Guru's presence and ensure that the Guru's feet grace your home.
