DIY Almond Oil: Here’s how to make almond oil at home—a nectar for both hair and skin; learn the easy method..

DIY Almond Oil Recipe: When it comes to beauty and health, almonds are often the first thing that comes to mind. Since childhood, our grandmothers have advised us to eat almonds to sharpen the mind and strengthen the body. But have you ever considered that the oil extracted from these very almonds—which you usually only consume—can completely transform your beauty care routine?

Most almond oils available in the market today carry a "pure" label, yet they often contain hidden additives like mineral oil and synthetic fragrances. Such chemical-laden products can aggravate issues like hair loss and acne.
If you are tired of these adulterated products and want to provide your skin and hair with truly natural, pure nourishment, there is no need to splurge on expensive items. We bring you two simple methods to prepare pure almond oil right at home.

This homemade oil is nothing short of a boon for your hair and skin. Let’s look at the easy steps involved. Here are the ingredients, method, benefits, and the correct way to use this pure, natural homemade almond oil:

Required Ingredients
Almonds: Approximately 600 grams of high-quality dry almonds.
Water: Lukewarm water for soaking and grinding the almonds.
Cloth: A clean cotton or muslin cloth to squeeze the oil from the mixture.
Jar: A clean glass container or airtight jar to store the oil and paste.

Preparation Method (Step-by-Step)
Preparing the Almonds: First, soak 600 grams of almonds in water for 5 to 8 hours. Once soaked, drain the water and dry the almonds thoroughly—either in the sun or spread out on a tray. Afterward, lightly roast them in an oven for a few minutes; this enhances their aroma and the flavor of the oil. Method 1 (Squeezing Method): Coarsely grind roasted almonds in a blender and transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add a little lukewarm water and mix gently. Since water and oil do not mix, a thin layer of oil will become visible. Transfer this mixture into a cotton cloth and squeeze it tightly; the pure almond oil will flow out into the container. Let it sit for a while so that the solid residue settles at the bottom and the clear oil rises to the top.

Method 2 (Butter Method): Grind dry almonds in a food processor or blender until they turn into a completely smooth paste or almond butter. Transfer this paste to a glass jar and place it in a warm spot or in direct sunlight for 10 to 14 days. Within a few weeks, the natural almond oil will naturally rise to the surface, allowing you to easily extract it.

Benefits of Almond Oil:
It deeply nourishes the skin. When mixed with a little sugar, it serves as an excellent natural body and face scrub, removing dead skin cells and leaving the skin glowing. It also strengthens hair roots, prevents hair loss, and maintains the hair's natural shine and moisture.

How to Apply:
For Face and Skin: Take a few drops of almond oil in your palm and gently massage it onto your face or body using circular motions. If using it as a scrub, mix a little sugar into the oil, gently rub it onto your face, and then rinse with fresh water.

For Hair: Slightly warm the oil and apply it to your scalp and along the length of your hair. Massage with your fingertips for 5–10 minutes; leave it on for at least an hour or overnight, then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
