World Kidney Day 2025: These people are at higher risk of kidney disease, be careful in time..

There are many organs in our body, which help in keeping the body healthy and functioning properly. The kidney is one of them, which performs many important functions in the body. This is the reason why the kidney needs to be healthy to stay healthy. However, rapidly changing lifestyles and wrong eating habits often make the kidney sick (kidney disease risk factors).

In such a situation, World Kidney Day (World Kidney Day 2025) is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March to spread awareness about kidney health and its related diseases. This day encourages people to adopt a healthy lifestyle to make their kidneys healthy. Today, on the occasion of World Kidney Day, let us know some common problems related to kidneys and some tips to keep them healthy-

Why are cases of kidney disease increasing?

To know about this in detail, we spoke to Dr. Avinandan Banerjee, Senior Consultant Neurologist and Transplant Physician at CMRI Hospital. He said that the disease of high BP and diabetes is increasing rapidly in India, due to which their kidneys are affected badly. Since there are no symptoms in the early stages of kidney diseases, it becomes very difficult to diagnose them in the beginning.

Periodic checkups are necessary.

Therefore, people suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, or stroke should get their kidneys checked regularly. Also, people who have a history of kidney diseases in their family should get their regular checkups done. Doctors usually recommend getting two tests done initially, which include a urine test and urea creatinine.

Common kidney diseases

Kidney disease means that your kidneys are damaged and they cannot filter the blood the way they should. Some common kidney problems include acute kidney injury, kidney cysts, kidney stones, and kidney infection. At the same time, if you have kidney failure, the treatment includes a kidney transplant or dialysis.

Keep kidneys healthy like this.
If kidney diseases (kidney disease prevention tips) are detected in the early stages, then they can be treated with medicines and lifestyle changes such as diet, physical activity, etc. However, when the disease reaches a severe stage, doctors can only slow down its effect.

Therefore, it is advised that if you have any disease like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease or you are above 60 years of age, then first of all get regular checkups done. Also, adopt a healthy lifestyle and drink plenty of water.
