Vastu for Shoes and Slippers: Many people keep their shoes and slippers right outside their homes, often using dedicated racks. Some have a habit of removing their footwear at the main entrance before stepping inside. This leads to an accumulation of footwear at the main gate. Whether done knowingly or unknowingly, such habits can invite poverty or financial distress. In astrology, footwear is associated with Saturn (Shani) and the shadow planet Rahu. Failing to organize and place them correctly can expose you to various troubles and negative energy; therefore, one should adhere to Vastu principles.

**The Right Place for Footwear According to Vastu**
Shoes and slippers should be kept in the south-west direction (Nairutya Kona) of the house. This direction symbolizes the Earth element, which provides stability; you can place a shoe rack here. Apart from the south-west corner, the west direction is also a suitable place for keeping footwear or a shoe rack.
**Places to Avoid for Keeping Footwear**
Footwear should not be kept in the north-west direction (Vayavya Kona). This corner is governed by the Wind God (Pavan Dev), and the area should be kept clean and uncluttered.
One should never keep shoes or slippers in the north-east corner (Ishaan Kona), as it is the abode of the deities and the ideal spot for worship. Placing a shoe rack here can lead to financial loss or poverty.
Additionally, footwear should not be kept in the east or south-east (Agneya Kona) directions. The east is associated with the Sun God (Surya Dev), and the south-east corner is the domain of the Fire God (Agni Dev).
Avoid placing footwear directly in front of the main entrance, whether inside or outside. The main entrance is linked to positive energy and the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi; the presence of footwear there can displease the Goddess. Some people, out of ignorance, keep shoes and slippers inside the house or in their bedrooms; this increases Vastu defects and negativity. Keeping them in the bedroom can lead to discord in marital life.
Keep shoes and slippers outside the house.
If there is no designated space for footwear in the south-west direction (Nairutya Kon) of your home, keep them outside. However, ensure they are not placed directly in front of the main entrance. You can place the shoe rack to the right or left of the main gate.
The shoe rack should be enclosed, not open. A wooden shoe rack is preferable; one should avoid using shoe racks made of plastic, iron, or steel.
