Shreyas Iyer had not yet recovered from the defeat in the final of the Indian Premier League 2025 and his dream of winning another T20 trophy was shattered. Just 10 days ago on June 3, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings to win the IPL 2025 title. Shreyas Iyer had to face defeat in the final of another T20 tournament. Iyer lost while captaining SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the first edition of the T20 Mumbai League. Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals defeated them at the Wankhede Stadium on June 12.

Shreyas Iyer's wounds were fresh as he moved forward forgetting the bitter memories of the IPL. What happened in Ahmedabad happened in Mumbai as well where Iyer's Falcons crumbled under pressure. Chasing a modest target of 158, Siddhesh Lad's South Central team won in 19.2 overs and won the title. League ambassador India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma was present in the final.

Iyer's statement created a stir.
"It is quite normal to feel disappointed after losing the final. They must have been injured. But when they come back next year, they will have extra motivation and confidence. This team should be proud of their effort,"
Shreyas Iyer flopped again in the final.
Winning the toss and deciding to bowl, Mumbai South Central dismissed openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ishan Mulchandani in the powerplay. Like the IPL final, here too captain Shreyas Iyer could not do anything special. He came to bat at number 3 and went after hitting a six and a four. Sobo Mumbai Falcons scored 157 runs on the board thanks to Mayuresh Tandel's 50 off 32 balls and Harsh Aghav's 45 off 28 balls. The duo added 85 runs in just 49 balls for the fifth wicket.

Vaibhav Mali was the most successful bowler for Mumbai South Central. He took two wickets in four overs. Chasing the target, captain Siddesh Lad and opening partner Sahil Bhagwant Jadhav laid the foundation for the chase by scoring 32 runs in 2.5 overs. Siddesh was dismissed for 15 and Sahil for 22, leaving Mumbai South Central at 42 for 2. Thanks to Chinmay Sutar's 53 off 49 balls and Avais Naushad Khan's 38 off 24 balls, Mumbai South Central achieved the target in 19.2 overs and won the title.
