1. Room Temperature
Dr. Ravi explains that if a child repeatedly throws off their blanket, parents should check the room temperature. For a child to sleep well, the room temperature should be around 22 degrees Celsius.
2. Overheating
If a child repeatedly throws off their blanket at night, parents should check if the child is overheating. If the child's body is too warm, they won't want to be covered with a blanket or quilt and won't be able to sleep properly.
What should parents do?
Parents should never dress their children in heavy woolen clothes while putting them to sleep. Such clothes cause discomfort and disrupt the child's sleep. Additionally, thick and warm clothes increase the risk of overheating, which is not safe for young children. For a good and deep sleep, it's essential to always dress children in light, comfortable, and breathable clothing.
This not only keeps their body at the right temperature but also prevents them from feeling cold and significantly improves their sleep quality. Choosing the right blanket is also very important. Children should always be covered with a light blanket or quilt so that they can easily turn over and are not disturbed repeatedly during sleep. Heavy blankets can make children feel suffocated, and they often throw them off immediately, increasing the risk of getting cold.
