Dhanteras 2026 Shopping Muhurat: The grand festival of lights and joy, Diwali, begins with Dhanteras. On this day, it is customary to worship Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth. Purchasing gold and silver on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. Additionally, people also buy vehicles, utensils, and other essential items on this day. While the day of Dhan Trayodashi is generally considered highly auspicious for shopping, making specific purchases during certain designated times can help ensure the continued blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.

Swami Kanhaiya Maharaj, an astrologer from Kashi, explains that the 'Pradosh Kaal' is the most auspicious time for purchasing gold and silver on Dhanteras. On November 6, the Pradosh Kaal will span from 5:33 PM to 8:05 PM. During this window—specifically between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM—you can purchase gold and silver jewelry, utensils, and other items.

Auspicious Timing for Shopping
Furthermore, if you are planning to purchase a vehicle on Dhanteras, the period between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM is ideal for buying a four-wheeler or two-wheeler. This timeframe also encompasses the 'Abhijit Muhurat,' which adds to its significance. According to the Vedic Hindu calendar, the Abhijit Muhurat on November 6 falls between 11:44 AM and 12:32 PM—a period regarded as highly auspicious in the scriptures.

Best Time for Purchasing Electrical Goods
Meanwhile, if you intend to buy utensils made of steel, brass, or copper on Dhanteras, the most auspicious time is between 3:01 PM and 6:00 PM. Shopping during this period—which coincides with a 'Sthir Lagna' (a stable ascendant)—is believed to bring prosperity and the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi into your home. During this time, you may also purchase electrical appliances alongside your utensils. In such a scenario, if you are planning to make purchases on Dhanteras, this is the most auspicious time (muhurat) to do so.

Avoid shopping during Rahu Kaal.
Astrologer Swami Kanhaiya Maharaj has advised that one should strictly avoid making any purchases during Rahu Kaal on the day of Dhanteras. On November 6, Rahu Kaal will begin at 10:30 AM and remain in effect until 11:40 AM.
