Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the opening of 100 additional 'Ayushman Arogya Mandirs' in the capital. She also announced plans to provide relief to 4.5 million (45 lakh) people by regularizing 1,151 unauthorized colonies in the capital. The government will also ensure the timely completion of the 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahin Makan' (housing-in-situ) scheme. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 900,000 (9 lakh) people in Delhi have registered, and claims have been settled for 65,000 individuals.

Benefits from the 'Jan Aushadhi' (affordable medicine) scheme and the 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir' scheme are also being provided. Rekha Gupta noted that the benefits of the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana' (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme) were not available under the previous administration, but have been implemented by the current government. The Prime Minister has provided support for initiatives ranging from the removal of landfill sites to the cleaning of the Yamuna River, with 12 billion (1,200 crore) rupees allocated for these efforts. Furthermore, 8.3 billion (830 crore) rupees have been received under the 'AMRUT' scheme, and 16 billion (1,600 crore) rupees are supporting 30 different projects. Additionally, road infrastructure in Delhi has been strengthened through a project worth 125 billion (1.25 lakh crore) rupees.
Free cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Rekha Gupta stated that efforts are underway to make Delhi free from traffic congestion. Along with providing free rations to 7.3 million (73 lakh) families in Delhi, 300,000 (3 lakh) gas connections have been distributed under the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana'. The public transport system now includes 5,100 electric buses, a feat supported by the central government. Gupta highlighted that Delhi’s metro network spans 1,165 kilometers; 27 billion (27,000 crore) rupees have been allocated for the four phases of the metro, which has a total project cost of 121 billion (1.21 lakh crore) rupees. The central government has also provided assistance in coordinating with Delhi-NCR states and formulating an Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. Notably, the central government has played a significant role in facilitating the transition from diesel-powered trucks to electric trucks in Delhi.
What is an 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir'?
Across the country—including in Delhi—existing sub-health centers and primary health centers in both rural and urban areas have been modernized and upgraded into 'Ayushman Arogya Mandirs'. More than 1.86 lakh such centers are currently operational across the country. These centers are staffed by teams comprising CHOs (Community Health Officers), nurses, and ASHA workers. They provide medical treatment and conduct door-to-door health screenings.
'Ayushman Arogya Mandir' centers offer 12 types of healthcare services free of charge. At these facilities, patients receive free medical consultations, access to over 100 types of medicines, and 63 different kinds of diagnostic tests—all at no cost.
Free Health Screenings
Early screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, and three common types of cancer—oral, breast, and cervical—are provided free of charge. Additionally, these centers offer free routine check-ups for pregnant women, antenatal care, and vaccinations for infants. If a specialist doctor is not physically present at a center, patients can use technology to consult with specialists in major cities or district hospitals via video call.
Opposition Questioned Over SIR Objections
Rekha Gupta stated that the 'Special Summary Revision' (SIR) of electoral rolls is not a new occurrence in the country; it is a standard, recurring process conducted by the Election Commission. An SIR was previously carried out in 2002. She remarked that the public has rejected both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She labeled the AAP as the "king of sit-in protests" (dharna king) and pointed to the poor state of law and order in Punjab as a well-known fact. She accused them of harming Delhi to further their own political ambitions. She questioned whether an SIR did not take place in Tamil Nadu or Kerala, where their parties are in power. She further described the 'Cockroach Party' (a derogatory reference) as the 'B-team' of the Aam Aadmi Party, calling them "anarchic parties" that have, at various times, assaulted journalists and police personnel, and questioned the role of the armed forces. She also noted that Rahul Gandhi remains silent on issues concerning JNU professors.
Delhi Cabinet Approves Industrial Policy 2026
The Delhi Industrial Policy 2026 was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. Under the 'Mukhyamantri Udyamshri Yojana', a provision has been made to spend Rs 1,000 crore over five years, from the financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31. This covers 10 priority sectors, including IT/ITeS, Global Capability Centers (GCCs), data centers, research and development (R&D) and testing facilities, healthcare and wellness, urban logistics, circular economy and waste management, precision manufacturing, industry-linked skill development, and the technological modernization of MSMEs.
Furthermore, to provide special encouragement to women entrepreneurs and employees, higher incentive caps have been set for women-led enterprises across all priority sectors, and additional incentives will be offered to employers who hire female staff. Meanwhile, through the 'Invest Delhi' and 'Delhi Udyog Mitra' portals, investors will receive transparent, one-stop support—ranging from initial information and site selection to obtaining necessary approvals and resolving grievances.
