What is Kajari Teej?
The Kajari Teej fast is observed annually on the third day of the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) during the month of Bhadrapad (August–September). Kajari Teej is also known as Kajali Teej and Badi Teej. Several other types of Teej festivals are celebrated throughout the year, including Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej, Hartalika Teej, and Akha Teej.

The festival of Kajari Teej is celebrated with great enthusiasm in North Indian states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. On Kajari Teej, married women worship Goddess Parvati.

How is the Kajari Teej puja performed?
The Kajari Teej puja is performed in the evening. Women may choose to observe this fast while staying at their maternal homes. However, the rituals associated with the Kajari Teej puja may vary across different states.

On the day of Kajari Teej, women wake up early, bathe, and take a vow to observe the fast until the evening.

In the evening, after sunset, women perform the Kajari Teej puja and break their fast only after listening to the *Vrat Katha* (ritual story).

Many women also observe a *Nirjala* fast (fasting without water) on this day. On this day, women worship Lord Shiva alongside Goddess Parvati.

The Neem tree is specially worshipped on this day. Women also prepare a variety of dishes to mark the occasion of Kajari Teej.
