Vastu: This item kept under the bed can increase your restlessness; remove it from the house immediately..

An old suitcase—tucked away atop a wardrobe, in a corner of the storeroom, or under the bed—is a common sight in most households. People often keep them, thinking they might come in handy someday; however, according to Vastu Shastra beliefs, items left unused for long periods can disrupt the home's energy balance. While there is no scientific evidence to support these beliefs, a large number of people adhere to them based on faith and tradition.

Vastu Shastra posits that every object in a home carries a specific type of energy. When an item remains unused in the same spot for a long time, it can obstruct the flow of positive energy. This is precisely why Vastu experts advise periodically cleaning the house and reviewing items to identify those that are no longer useful.

**A Sign of Stagnant Energy**
Elaborating on this, Pandit Deeplal Jaipuri, an astrologer from Ambala, explains that a suitcase is not merely a vessel for travel gear; it is also considered a symbol of mobility and new opportunities. If a suitcase remains closed for years, filled with useless or discarded items, Vastu principles view this as a sign of stagnant energy. He suggests that if the suitcase is in good condition, one should clean it regularly and use it when needed. If it is not required, donating it to someone in need is considered the best course of action.

He further stated that, according to Vastu Shastra, one should not store torn clothes, broken objects, waste paper, old bills, or useless items inside a suitcase. Such items are believed to foster negativity and create a heavy, oppressive atmosphere in the home. Conversely, keeping belongings clean and organized symbolizes positivity and discipline. He also noted a common habit in many households: storing suitcases or other items underneath the bed.

Beneficial for a Better Lifestyle
According to Vastu beliefs, keeping unnecessary items beneath one's sleeping area can lead to issues such as mental stress, restlessness, and sleep disturbances. However, experts clarify that these claims are not backed by scientific research and should be viewed merely as traditional beliefs. At the same time, experts believe that keeping a home organized is beneficial not only from a Vastu perspective but also for mental peace and a better lifestyle. If an old suitcase is no longer in use, donating it to someone in need is a more constructive step than letting it take up space in the house.

Promoting Positive Energy
On the other hand, if it might be useful in the future, store it in a clean condition at an appropriate location. Ultimately, the message of Vastu Shastra is to keep only those items in the home that are currently in use or genuinely needed. This makes the home appear more organized and helps maintain a positive atmosphere. However, these beliefs should be adopted based on personal faith, as there is no scientific evidence to support them.
