In today's world, the dynamics of relationships and dating are evolving rapidly. Driven by social media and shifting mindsets, new trends emerge daily, each attempting to redefine the very essence of love. A new term has recently joined the ranks of these trends: "Toleramory." While it may appear to be a modern and open form of relationship at first glance, it is, in reality, considered to be quite complicated and emotionally detrimental. Many individuals are attempting to embrace it, viewing it as an "advanced relationship"; however, the hidden truth behind it is that one partner attempts to sustain the relationship by suppressing their own emotions. This is precisely why experts regard it as a dangerous trend.

**What is Toleramory?**
The term "Toleramory" is a portmanteau derived from the words "tolerate" (meaning to endure) and "polyamory." In this dynamic, one partner silently endures the other's infidelity or extramarital affairs, despite being fully aware of them. Unlike true polyamory, this arrangement lacks equality or explicit mutual consent; instead, one individual makes compromises by stifling their own feelings. Over time, this behavior becomes habitual, leading the individual to begin neglecting their own needs and well-being.
**How Does This Trend Differ from Polyamory?**
While polyamory is characterized by mutual consent, honesty, and clearly established ground rules among all parties involved, Toleramory lacks any such foundations. In a Toleramory relationship, the balance is disrupted, and a one-sided compromise becomes the dominant force. One partner exploits their freedom, while the other simply continues to endure the situation, resulting in a relationship that is both unbalanced and fragile.
**Why is This Trend Gaining Momentum?**
In the current social media landscape, there is immense pressure to appear "cool" and "open-minded." People often attempt to project an image of strength and maturity by concealing their true emotions. Consequently, many individuals suppress feelings such as jealousy, sorrow, or insecurity, and begin to adopt trends like Toleramory. They perceive it as an integral part of a modern mindset, whereas, in reality, it amounts to making a profound compromise with one's own self.
**The Impact on Relationships**
An individual involved in such a relationship gradually begins to deteriorate emotionally and psychologically from within. Repeatedly making compromises erodes one's self-esteem, causing an individual to begin viewing themselves as inferior. Trust and happiness within the relationship begin to dissipate, leading to increased stress and emotional distance. The impact of excessive self-sacrifice is felt most acutely on mental health. Suppressing one's emotions over a prolonged period can exacerbate stress, anxiety, and loneliness. In many instances, the individual may even fall victim to conditions such as depression, as they are unable to express their true feelings.
