Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is soon set to bring audiences the sequel to his film *Masoom*, titled *Masoom: The New Generation*. For this project, he will be collaborating with renowned music composer A.R. Rahman. During a recent conversation, Shekhar shared several details regarding the film.

**A.R. Rahman to Serve as Producer**
Shekhar Kapur's 1983 classic, *Masoom*, is poised to return to the screen in a brand-new avatar. Shekhar is set to produce this film in collaboration with A.R. Rahman. Speaking to *Variety*, he stated, "I am going to begin shooting for it this year. I have finalized the cast, and the script is also ready. A.R. Rahman has joined me on this project as a co-producer; he himself proposed becoming a part of the film after hearing the script."

Providing further insight into the project, Shekhar Kapur remarked, "For a long time, I have felt that it is essential to portray the story of *Masoom* in the context of contemporary times. Concepts such as family and relationships have evolved significantly within society, and it is equally important to reflect these changes in cinema." While discussing the film, he also revealed that he has already recorded one song and is currently working on the second track for the movie.

The original film *Masoom* was directed by Shekhar Kapur in 1983. The movie featured a stellar cast comprising Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Tanuja, Supriya Pathak, and Saeed Jaffrey. The film was based on the book *Man, Woman and Child* by American author Erich Segal. The story of *Masoom* centered on a happily married couple whose lives are subsequently confronted with a series of ups and downs.
