Tulsi Mala Wearing Rules: Tulsi is considered auspicious in every form of Sanatan Dharma. People not only offer water to the Tulsi plant daily but also wear it as a garland. The Tulsi plant is also famous for its medicinal properties. According to astrology, the Tulsi plant is a symbol of purity and is related to Shri Hari Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Shyam Tulsi and Ram Tulsi are mainly kept in homes, and garlands of these are worn. Shyam Tulsi is of dark color as per its name and Rama Tulsi is of green color and both Tulsi are the best. People have different beliefs about Tulsi garland. It is said that wearing Tulsi garland brings good luck and prosperity, as well as it also protects from negative energies.

Importance of Tulsi Mala

Tulsi garland has special importance in Sanatan Dharma. The person who takes bath wearing Tulsi garland in the neck, gets the fruit of bathing in all water pilgrimages. According to mythological belief, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu gave this boon to Tulsi that he will accept only those bhogs which contain Tulsi leaves. Therefore, Vishnuji accepts only those bhogs which contain Tulsi.

Similarly, when the devotees of Shri Vishnu have Tulsi garland around their neck, the Lord readily accepts them, takes them under his protection and gives them a beautiful place in his world. Therefore, a person who wants to take refuge in Lord Vishnu must wear Tulsi Mala.

The scientific importance of Tulsi Mala
Indian Sanatan culture and tradition is completely scientific. There is some scientific reason hidden behind every Sanatan belief. There is spiritual importance as well as scientific importance behind wearing Tulsi Mala.

It has been proved in various tests of science that Tulsi is a divine plant, Tulsi has a special type of electrical power which brings modesty and positivity in the mind, wearing Tulsi around the neck increases vitality and cures many diseases.

Apart from this, wearing Tulsi Mala benefits a person from many diseases related to infection, digestion, fever, cold, headache, skin infection, brain diseases, and gas. Therefore, people of every sect and caste-religion can wear Tulsi Mala.

Method of wearing Tulsi Kanthi

First of all, Tulsi Mala should be purified by putting it in Gangajal, then it should be shown with incense and lamp. After that, the Mala should be kept near Shri Hari Vishnuji, after worshiping and praising the Lord, the Mala should be worn with full faith and devotion.

Rules of wearing Tulsi Mala

Every person who believes in Lord Vishnu must wear Tulsi Mala. But the person wearing Tulsi Kanthi should also follow some rules.

The person wearing Tulsi Kanthi should eat Satvik food. One should stay away from Tamasik food like eggs, meat etc.

One should not do any kind of intoxication, one should stay away from intoxication like alcohol.

Tulsi Mala (Kanthi) can be worn by all the people of all the four ashrams (Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, Sanyasi), children, men, women, people of every caste and sect.

When a person is on his death bed, then at the end, Tulsi leaves and Ganga water are put in his mouth for the welfare of the soul. Similarly, when Tulsi Mala is worn around the neck, it is extremely beneficial. Therefore, Tulsi Mala should never be kept away from oneself.

It is considered auspicious to wear Tulsi Mala during some special festival periods such as Akshaya Tritiya, Deepawali, Holi, Dussehra, Anant Chaturdashi, Ekadashi Tithi or Thursday of Shukla Paksha after purifying it with Ganga water.

Kanthi should not be removed even on the occasion of birth and death in the family.
