1 cup gram flour (*besan*)

2–3 tablespoons yogurt (*dahi*)

3 tablespoons fresh cream

1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (*ajwain*)

1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds (*saunf*)

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon ginger paste

1 teaspoon red chili powder

2 teaspoons green chili paste

A pinch of baking soda

Salt to taste

2 tablespoons gram flour (*besan*)

2 cups yogurt (*dahi*)

2 tablespoons tomato juice/puree

8–10 curry leaves

3–4 cloves

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon red chili powder

3 tablespoons of oil

**Method**

**Method for making *Gatte***

Combine all the ingredients and knead the gram flour into a dough.

If you prefer the *Gatte* to be softer, add a little more yogurt to the mixture.

Grease your palms with oil.

Shape the gram flour dough into thin, cylindrical logs (*gatte*).

Pour 3–4 cups of water into a pan and steam the *gatte* for 5–7 minutes.

Allow them to cool, then cut them into smaller pieces.

To prepare the gravy, first mix the yogurt and gram flour (besan).

Add a little water and mix thoroughly, ensuring there are no lumps.

Next, add the salt, chili powder, and all other spices.

Now, heat oil in a pan and sauté the cumin seeds, cloves, and curry leaves.

Pour in the yogurt and gram flour mixture.

Then, add the tomato juice as well.

Finally, add the *gatte* (gram flour dumplings) to the mixture.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
