PM Modi Creates History: Today, a new chapter is being added to India's spiritual history. For the first time in history, the *Shikhar Kalash* (pinnacle urn) of the Somnath Temple is undergoing a *Jalabhishek* (ritual water consecration) using 1,100 liters of holy water brought from 11 pilgrimage sites. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is performing this sacred act on the auspicious occasion of the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav. The pinnacle of the Somnath Temple stands 155 feet high; a special crane has been arranged to reach this height for the *Kumbhabhishek* ceremony. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the *Mahapuja* (grand worship) of Lord Somnath.

**Water Consecration of the 1.86-Ton Kalash**
A 1.86-ton *Kalash* will be hoisted to the 155-foot-high pinnacle of the Somnath Temple using a special crane. For the consecration, a special vessel with a capacity of 1,100 liters has been prepared; it weighs 760 kilograms when empty, and approximately 1.86 tons when filled with water. Modern technology has been utilized in its design. To safeguard the temple's heritage, a massive 350-ton all-terrain crane is being employed to ensure that no direct structural load is placed upon the temple itself. In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a ceremony for the hoisting of a new flag atop the temple's pinnacle will also take place.

**Why Consecrate the Pinnacle?**
The *Jalabhishek* being performed for the first time at the Somnath Temple holds profound religious, spiritual, and historical significance. According to the scriptures, the temple's pinnacle—and the *Kalash* situated upon it—serves as a focal point for attracting cosmic energy. It is believed that, over time and due to natural calamities or turbulent weather, the spiritual energy of a temple may diminish. Through the *Kumbhabhishek*—utilizing water from holy rivers and the chanting of sacred mantras—this energy is revitalized. Furthermore, there is a belief encapsulated in the maxim *Shikhar Darshanam Pap Nashanam* (Viewing the Pinnacle Destroys Sins)—meaning that the mere sight of the temple's pinnacle is sufficient to absolve one of their sins. Consequently, the consecration of the pinnacle elevates the sanctity of the entire temple to its absolute zenith. Indeed, today marks a historic day for the Somnath Temple. On May 11, 1951, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India, consecrated the modern Somnath Temple. Today marks the completion of 75 years since that event. The consecration ceremony being performed by Prime Minister Modi symbolizes the continuation of that historical legacy and the strengthening of modern India's cultural roots.

**1,000 Years Since the Temple's Destruction by Ghazni**
This day holds particular significance because, exactly 1,000 years ago—in the year 1026—Mahmud of Ghazni demolished the Somnath Temple. The year 2026 will mark the completion of 1,000 years since that tragic event. This grand consecration of the temple's spire conveys a message to the world: that Somnath—meaning "the Immortal"—rises again with even greater grandeur after every act of destruction. It is, therefore, being celebrated as a Festival of Self-Respect (*Swabhiman Parv*).
