Pankaj Tripathi, who rose to fame with the web series Mirzapur, needs no introduction today. He also reigns supreme in films, having captured the hearts of people through OTT. He has begun a new career as a producer with the web series Perfect Family, but instead of releasing it on an OTT platform, he released it on YouTube. Two episodes of Perfect Family are free, while the remaining episodes can be viewed for 59 rupees. The veteran actor recently explained why he released his first web series as a producer on YouTube instead of an OTT platform.

Pankaj Tripathi says that the biggest reason for releasing Perfect Family on YouTube is that it offers complete freedom. The actor believes that OTT is taking away people's freedom. While this platform once laid the foundation for presenting new stories, it has now become a headache for producers and actors. OTT platforms involve so many processes to get everything approved that creativity is lost.
Creativity is limited on OTT platforms.
Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Pankaj Tripathi further says, "When you join a platform, your creativity is limited. There's a lot of pressure and interference." Elaborating further, he said, "They decide who will be the creative head, you have to get approval for the script, and then they say the production values aren't right. But here (on YouTube), there's complete freedom."
Permission is required from the legal team for everything on OTT platforms.
Pankaj further says that actors are no longer allowed to improvise on lines on OTT platforms. This means they can no longer alter a line or perform as they see fit. Explaining further, he says, "I remember I was shooting a web series and I made a slight change to a line. Then a creative head came running to me and said, "Don't say this." When I asked why, they said we'd have to ask the legal team. And I started thinking, "Now the legal team will decide what we should say? Let the audience decide some things. If they don't like something, they'll reject it themselves."
