Washed moong dal – 1 cup (soaked for 2-3 hours)
Bread slices – 6-8 slices
Green chilies – 2
Ginger – 1-inch piece
Onion – 1 medium
Capsicum (bell pepper) – 1/2 cup
Fresh coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons
Asafoetida (hing) – 1 pinch
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt – to taste
Oil or butter – for toasting
Method for making Moong Dal Toast:
First, wash the soaked moong dal two or three times with clean water. Next, place the moong dal, green chilies, and ginger in a blender jar; add one or two spoonfuls of water and blend into a thick paste.
Transfer the ground moong dal batter into a bowl. Add the finely chopped onion, capsicum, fresh coriander, asafoetida, cumin seeds, red chili powder, chaat masala, and salt to taste, then mix everything well.
After that, whisk the batter thoroughly with a spoon for 2-3 minutes.
Now, take a slice of bread and spread the prepared moong dal batter evenly over one side of it. Next, heat a non-stick pan and apply a little oil or butter to it; place the bread on the pan with the side coated in moong dal paste facing downwards.

Let it cook on a low flame for 2–3 minutes, then apply a little oil to the upper side of the bread and cook the other side.
Once the bread turns crispy, remove it from the pan, cut it diagonally across the middle, and serve the piping hot Moong Dal Chilla with green chutney or tomato sauce.
