We often feel as though we can keep going like machines, but our minds and bodies function quite differently. When the Mind Gives Up
When your mind becomes excessively fatigued, the primary impact is on your cognitive abilities—specifically, your capacity to think. If you find yourself experiencing immense mental strain even when making minor decisions, it is a clear indication of "decision fatigue."
Furthermore, if you struggle to focus on your work or find yourself rereading the same paragraph multiple times, it suggests that your cognitive load has exceeded its limit.
Additionally, forgetting minor details is a sign that your brain is processing information at a significantly slower pace than usual.
Behavioral Changes
When we are mentally exhausted, our ability to regulate our emotions begins to diminish. If you find yourself becoming irritable at the slightest provocation or experiencing outbursts of anger without any apparent cause, these are significant symptoms of mental fatigue.
Moreover, withdrawing from your favorite hobbies or distancing yourself from the people you care about can also be a sign of mental exhaustion.

Physical Signals
The mind and body are inextricably linked. Mental stress often manifests as physical pain—such as experiencing headaches without any apparent cause, or feeling tension and stiffness in the neck or shoulders.
If you are unable to fall asleep despite feeling physically exhausted, or if you find yourself constantly ruminating over thoughts throughout the night, these are further indications that you need a break. Stress weakens your immunity, making you more susceptible to ailments such as colds and coughs.

Taking a Break Is Not a Sign of Weakness, but a Necessity
Psychologically, resting is not about avoiding work; rather, it serves as a regulatory function. Just as an athlete requires rest to allow their muscles to recover, our neurons, too, need to be recharged. Therefore, if you notice any such warning signs within yourself, do not hesitate to take a break; you may also consult a doctor if necessary.
